嘉庆朝彩瓷以粉彩为主流，陈设器、文房用具、日用器皿以及五供(由两件香罐、两件花抓及一件香炉组成)和法器等都属常见。嘉庆早期的粉彩还有乾隆朝的特点，比较精细，既有"百花不露地"的，也有彩地轧道开光的。"百花不露地"相当精细，个别的甚至是"金地百花";彩地轧道开光品种的不如乾隆时的精细规整，所绘纹饰有的也显呆滞。嘉庆粉彩瓷常见纹饰有花卉、八宝、云龙、罗汉、婴戏、石榴等。器型有瓶、笔筒、洗、盘、碗、茶壶、戟耳瓶等。粉彩器中有部分器物的内壁和底部施豆瓣绿釉，压凤尾纹粉彩器则仍多见各种色地，如黄、红、绿等。这一时期描金工艺的采用也较为普遍。
