官窑是中国古时五大名窑之一。官窑是在宋大观及政和年间于汴梁所造，青瓷釉色晶莹惕透，有开裂或 呈冰片状，粉青紫口铁定是其特色。在古代，官窑必须符合皇家的审美观，客观上就限制了陶瓷工匠的 艺术发展，也导致了官窑的产量稀少，而此件四方洗由于器型独特的原因更为珍贵，现世暂时仅发现一 件，可谓孤品！
此洗器形方正端庄，上部呈圆形，下部为四方形。釉面光洁，釉色如同美玉般莹润清透，素雅淡然，铁 骨胎，紫口铁足明显，开大小相间的黄色纹片。整器造型敦厚而小巧，古朴典雅，置于案头色青韵沁， 平添雅趣可见古代文人雅士的审美情趣。
