“红印花"是清代海关的一种票据凭证，年代久远 至今已逾100多年。原票为雕刻版精印，图案精美，存世量极其稀少，为“中国第一珍邮”集邮收藏中的珍品。
五元红印花邮票乃邮票面值中高高面值的。由于面值高，出售极其稀少，是当时专门为邮政汇票或者部分寄国外信件之用。因此，有少部分贴在信封上实寄过，绝大部分贴在了汇银执据上。贴在汇票上的邮票付款后，即将汇票汇交北京邮政总局销毁，所以当5元面值的加盖票流传得极少，真正贴信实用过的旧票也比较少，新票就更不用说了，据记载该票存世量仅数百枚。
但就在这极其稀少的珍邮当中竟还有更珍贵的“红印花当五元倒盖”票。加盖的“红印花”邮票是作为大清官局邮政的临时邮票使用，只是一种权益之策。谁也没有想到仅仅是加盖邮票竟然出现了盖销章放倒的现象；当时邮件激增，急需邮票使用，所以在邮票检查过程当中也出现了纰漏，使得少量的倒盖珍邮流出。
