民国初期，南方各省回应孙中山广州国民革命政府参与针对军阀的北伐，福建、广西、贵州等省跟著广东省铸造了中华民国二毫银币。而广东省则从民国元年就开始铸造了广东省造中华民国元年一毫银币和二毫银币，并且连续从元年到十三年铸造了十一个年份，除了五年和六年之外，都有铸造。广东人向有使用银毫的传统。广东人俗称小银币为银毫(毫银)，广东话“一毫”即“一毛”之意，因此称呼二角、一角、五分面值小银币为“二毫、一毫、半毫”银毫。广东银币又称广东省造银元，泛指广东铸钱厂生产的各种面值银元。广东省造贰毫曾经发行年份（民国纪念） 在元年、二年、三年、四年、七年、八年、九年、十年、十一年、十二年、十三年、十七年、十八年、十九年，背孙中山像十三、十七年三星、十八年一星、十九年五星。从民国元年至4 年（1912～1915） 辛亥革命后，广东造币厂将旧币（龙洋）收回改铸“中华民国贰毫银币”， 设计简练，除文字外无它物，重一钱四分四，成色契合《国币法则》之规则 为：银七铜三。发行之后，商民称便，声誉不错。
此枚银币正面中央镌“贰毫银币”字样，上环铸 “中华民国八年”，下环为“广东省造”的铸造，左右分别有两朵精美的四瓣花。银币的背面中圈为阿拉伯数字“20”字样，上侧铸有英文“KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE” ，下侧从右到左为“TWENTY CENTS”英文字样，钱币的包浆醇厚，造型精緻，钱币文字行云流水，端秀清新，从整体上看製造工艺精湛，立体感十足，整体感觉时尚精美同时又具有中国历史韵味。
