其中的20座在2010年盈聚文化艺术品交易秋拍“锦灰吉金王世襄藏铜炉”专场所有成交,总成交额9844.8万元,平均每件492万元。其中一座“崇祯壬午冬月青来监造”款“冲天耳金片三足炉”,在2003年上海古玩盈聚交易中央秋拍时以166.1万元成交,2010年盈聚文化艺术品交易秋拍时则以1512万元成交,7年增值9倍。现在仿品充斥市场,旧货市场或古玩店均可见到“大明宣德年制”款的宣德炉。
宣德炉为明朝宣德年间所创制的焚香之炉,通常用于寺庙、权势之家烧香、拜佛、祭祖神。其冶炼方法十分讲究,一般铜器只经过四炼,而宣德炉的铜要炼十二次之多,其质地晶莹,分量沉重,制作精细,造型古朴,令后人为之倾倒。宣德炉的基本形状为敞口、方唇或圆唇,颈矮而细,扁鼓腹,三钝锥形实足或分裆空足,口沿上置桥形耳、“了”形耳或兽形耳,铭文年款多于炉外底,与宣德瓷器款近似。因传世的宣德炉很少,非常昂贵,因此历朝历代都纷纷仿制,在古玩市场或古玩店,随处可见刻有“大明宣德年制”款的仿制宣德炉,然而想从这里淘到真品宣德炉简直似大海捞针。
1368年朱元璋称帝,建立明朝,建都南京,从此开始了明代277年的发展历史。明代初年,手工业制作也取得了前所未有的成绩。其中手工制作较有特点的便是明代宣德年间铸造的大明宣德炉。因创始于宣德年间,因此得名“宣德炉”,铸造宣德炉的材料以风磨铜为主,还有多种金属合金。精炼后的宣德炉铜质细腻、纯粹、坚韧、有光泽。它主要是由皇师组织的工匠们在宫内制造。
